I would say to my friend
who is learning to speak
that there are things we can spoil
if we talk of them too much

Home, for instance, is best built
not by these words
but by the dark blink
of that bird
spitting mud
from the wing
at that wall
and not stopping
until its mouth
has over and over said
home
