The Colours of Now

by Marianne Koby Johnson

To liven up life,
I buy a scarlet Kalanchoe
dreary greyness having gone on too long.
This winter, there had been a splendid concert within the mysteries of the cathedral
                    a final car breakdown
and a long shivering search for a new one.
Now, the plant sits exquisite on my light oak table.
For background, the full green Chinese curtain with the dragonflies.
For the first time, I am reclining on my small accommodating sofa.
