Friday 16 May events are held online, on Zoom. Links will be provided nearer the time.
Tickets for both SPS members and non-members are below.
Click here for tickets for the live Saturday, 17 May events at the John Peel Centre, Stowmarket.
The three events are:
- Workshop with Heidi Williamson 10:30-13:00
- ‘Under the Influence’ 15.00-16.00
- Open Mic 16:15-17:00

Heidi Williamson will lead a workshop from 10:30-13:00 on Zoom: ‘Quite Contrary – contradictions in poems‘ – “How can you inject more ‘oomph’ into your poems, deepening them with pleasing contradictions? Poems often thrive on internal tensions that pull the sounds, images, and themes in the poem taut. In this 2.5 hour workshop, we’ll look at some poems containing opposing effects or contents, then create new work that dances on both sides of the fence at once.”
A single ticket gives access to ‘Under the Influence’ and Open Mic.

‘Under the Influence’, 15:00-16:00, hosted by Caroline Gay Way, invites you to bring two poems. The first will be a poem by a poet other than yourself that inspired the second poem, one of your own. There will then be time for you to explain the influence and for the group to discuss the poems.
This has become a very popular event. The number of poems that can be presented is limited.
