Coast Path – St. Ives To Zennor

by Elizabeth Bracken

Cyan’s for sea and sky.
For cirrus and cumulus,
waves whipping rock,
let the white of the canvas
shine through.
Yellow is summer
baked grass, broken
thistle and bracken,
cropped, crushed
underfoot in the sun.
Magenta’s for flowers,
red campion, foxgloves
dabbed ragged
against the horizon,
the yellow, the blue.
Black is the bedrock,
mica, quartz, feldspar
key to a landscape.
Black makes the picture
complete.
