Colour Sense

by Stewart Francis

A tiny blue butterfly,
as bright as a button
and bluer than I have seen,
flitted this way and that in
my herbaceous border.
It dashed past a white rose,
hovered over a pink rhododendron,
then sank deep into a leaf
of mint where it briefly stayed.
Spoilt for choice,
by fusing blue into green
it made a splash of turquoise.
