The Crabbe Poetry Competition 2022

First Prize: £600, Second Prize: £300, Third Prize: £150
plus Two Highly Commended Prizes of £75

All winning poems (including commended poems not attracting a monetary prize) will be read, preferably by their authors, at a celebratory Awards Event in October 2022 and will be included in the 2022 Crabbe Poetry Prize Anthology.

The closing date of the competition was midnight, 20 June 2022.

The Suffolk Poetry Society is excited to announce that poet, playwright and author Blake Morrison, Professor of Creative and Life Writing at Goldsmiths College, will judge the 2022 Crabbe Poetry Competition.

To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Suffolk Poetry Society, this year the competition was open to anyone who was either born, educated, working or resident in Suffolk, Essex or Norfolk or was a Suffolk Poetry Society member.

Adjudicator: Blake Morrison

Blake Morrison was born in Skipton, Yorkshire, and educated at Nottingham University, McMaster University and University College, London. After working for the Times Literary Supplement, he went on to become literary editor of both The Observer and the Independent on Sunday before becoming a full-time writer in 1995.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and former Chair of the Poetry Book Society and Vice-Chair of PEN,

Blake has written fiction, poetry, journalism, literary criticism and libretti, as well as adapting plays for the stage. His best-known works are probably his two memoirs, “And When Did You Last See Your Father?” and “Things My Mother Never Told Me.” Since 2003, Blake has been Professor of Creative and Life Writing at Goldsmiths College.
